Happy New Year!

Healthy Tips for the New Year

The most common New Year’s resolution is to improve health and wellness.  Every year at this time millions analyze their unhealthy shortcomings with hopes of a fresh start.  Below are a few tips that can get you on your way to a healthier 2015.

  • Get active! Try to exercise for 20-30 minutes at least 3-4 days a week.  This will not only help you lose weight but also decrease your aches and pains.
  • Pack your lunch! This allows you to maintain your health diet by adding nutritious fruits, and vegetables to your lunch, while also saving you money at the same time.
  • Limit your intake of alcohol.  While some alcohol consumption has been shown to provide health benefits, moderation is the key.  A glass of red wine with your meals has been shown to reduce inflammation and improve overall health.
  •  Quit smoking! Make this the year.  It just takes a lot of will power and the desire to quit.  Try rationing your cigarettes.  For example:  If you smoke 10 cigarettes per day, take them out of the pack at the beginning of the day.  Two days later reduce your allowed amount to 9…two days later 8…and so on.
  • Drink less coffee and drink more water.  A cup of coffee per day is fine and some would suggest health; but before you polish off a full pot make sure you drink enough water.  A good way to start is to drink one glass of water after each cup of coffee.
  • Eat more veggies!  It does not matter which veggies…just eat more.
  • Take a few important nutritional supplements.  Take a multivitamin, 1200mg of omega 3 EPA/DHA (Fish Oil), Magnesium, CoEnzyme Q 10, and Vitamin D.  All of these supplements will reduce inflammation and thus reduce your risk for pain and disease.  (Talk to you doctor before starting any nutritional supplements)
  • Get your annual physical from your Primary Medical Provider.  Prevention is the most effective key to staying healthy.
  • Chiropractic Care Can Help. See your Chiropractor monthly to help decrease the spinal degeneration process. Doctors of Chiropractic help you with overall health as well as making sure your spine is moving properly.

These tips should help you get a good start to a healthier 2015.

Good Luck.
